Finished in Emerald Green Pearl, this Stealth R/T is a fantastic relic of the early 1990s Japanese supercar wars and with just one owner and 22,000 original miles, it’s one of the best you will ever see.

Fantastic one-owner Stealth R/T with just 22,628 original miles. Loaded with all options. Excellent example of the ‘90s most technologically advanced sports car and still a thrill to drive today!

Thanks to a long-running partnership called Diamond Star Motors, Chrysler and Mitsubishi were pretty friendly in the early 1990s. That’s why there were re-badged Mitsubishi 3000 GTs in Dodge showrooms. Dodge called their version the Stealth and it offered a few unique details, most notable of which was the wing mounted at the base of the rear window on the top-of-the-line R/T models. Finished in Emerald Green Pearl, this Stealth R/T is a fantastic relic of the early 1990s Japanese supercar wars and with just one owner and 22,000 original miles, it’s one of the best you will ever see. It wears 100% original paint in excellent condition with only a few very minor signs of use and age but you’d never guess that it’s coming up on its 30th birthday. Fit and finish are typical Mitsubishi excellent and the shape has aged well—it still looks aggressive and clean. Be sure to check out the laser-straight flanks which don’t even show a door ding and the urethane bumpers which aren’t cracked or brittle with age. Mitsubishi’s quality was pretty impressive.

The tan leather interior is a beautiful complement to the green bodywork, giving the Stealth an upscale look and feel that belies the hardcore sports car hardware. Everything was standard on the R/T, including automatic climate control, power windows, locks mirrors, and seats, and a whole bunch of tech including multiple suspension settings and a great-sounding AM/FM/cassette/CD stereo system. Everything works, although the LED readout for the climate control system is a little faint in broad daylight—a common problem. Big analog gauges are easy to read and cover all the important aspects of the engine’s health, including turbo boost. The seats are comfortable for all-day cruising or even some aggressive driving at the track, and while the back seat isn’t exactly spacious, you can put real people back there in a pinch. The glass sunroof is removable for open-air motoring and there’s a good-sized trunk under the rear hatch with a space-saver spare underneath that’s never been used.

The Mitsubishi-built 3.0 liter DOHC V6 uses two turbochargers to crank out 300 horsepower and 307 pounds of torque—on par with an LT1 Corvette of the period. In practice, the Stealth feels powerful, smooth, and the turbos generate the kind of endless acceleration that made these cars so formidable. Given enough room, it’ll run to 155 MPH on the big end. This one has been properly maintained with recent work including a new ECM, mass air sensor, belts, hoses, and a full tune-up. It starts easily with an aggressive bark from the dual exhaust and despite all the tech packed under the hood, these are bulletproof reliable machines.

There’s even more tech underneath. The transmission is a slick-shifting 5-speed manual that’s linked to a sophisticated all-wheel-drive system that is constantly shuffling power back and forth wherever it can do the most good. It also offers 4-wheel steering that has the rear wheels adding a touch of counter steer to sharpen up the reflexes at cornering speeds. A tall overdrive gear makes it a relaxed cruiser when you’re not running hard and ride quality is adjustable with a switch on the console. This particular car was used as a daily driver for two years before being retired to sunny weather only, and the all-wheel drive system is certainly an asset in inclement weather. 4-wheel disc brakes are powerful and it wears large (for the time) 245/45/17 Yokohama radials on original factory alloys.

Extras include a large cache of spare parts and the original owner’s manual.

From behind the wheel, it’s shocking how contemporary this car feels. It’s fast, comfortable, and extremely competent, yet still turns in decent fuel economy and remains reliable enough to use every day. If you like technology and the no-limits attitude of the Japanese supercar wars, the Stealth is the undisputed champion. Call today!
