It doesn’t look like this car has spent much time in the winter weather and the factory bright red paint shines up beautifully even after 30 years of playing in the sun.

Clean Camaro RS convertible. 305 cubic inch V8 with TBI, automatic transmission, nice paint and bodywork, clean interior, good black canvas top. Upgraded exhaust but otherwise 100% stock. Nice ‘90s icon ready to enjoy.

By 1992, the third-gen Camaro was already 10 years old but that didn’t mean Chevy didn’t have a few tricks up their sleeves By adding fuel injection, the engines were both more powerful and more efficient, and cutting the roof off created what was arguably the most iconic ragtop of the ‘90s. Of course, painting it bright red doesn’t exactly mean you’ll keep a low profile, but it sure looks awesome. The RS added the Z/28’s ground effects package for a more aggressive look, and the combination of the low, mean stance and the clean, unadorned look (no decals, no scoops, no spoilers) might make this the best of the best when it comes to looks. It doesn’t look like this car has spent much time in the winter weather and the factory bright red paint shines up beautifully even after 30 years of playing in the sun. Even the urethane bumper covers and lower skirts are in excellent condition. Is it perfect? No, there are a few of the usual signs of age and use. But even we have to admit that this car has aged really well and looks awesome from any angle. Add in the fact that nobody felt the need to add any aftermarket spoilers or hoods only enhances its appeal. If you remember these cars fondly, this is the one you want to own today.

The red cloth bucket seat interior is also in great condition. Yes, it’s a lot of red but the handsome tweed-style upholstery remains comfortable and cool in the sun and still stylish today. The Camaro had a more driver-oriented interior than its competition from Ford, and the RS includes a full array of instruments that are big and easy to read. It’s also loaded with options, including power windows and locks, cold A/C, and a 4-speed automatic transmission. The upholstery and carpets are in excellent condition and despite red’s propensity to fade in the sun, this interior remains crisp and bright. The factory stereo has been replaced by a powerful Pioneer AM/FM/CD head unit and the installation is neatly done. Overhead, GM did a better job than other manufacturers with their convertible top, which features a full interior headliner and disappears invisibly under a hard tonneau. The trunk isn’t much to write home about, but it’s in great shape with no issues.

The engine is the reliable L03 305 cubic inch V8 fed by throttle body fuel injection. Befitting a Camaro, it delivers a healthy whack of low-end torque and pulls the bright red convertible around without ever seeming to work very hard. Perhaps most remarkably, this one remains complete stock from the air cleaner to the exhaust manifolds, so that means no hack workmanship or abuse. You can tell it hasn’t been used in the winter and it’s well maintained and ready to enjoy. And if it’s more horsepower you crave, well, it’s only a phone call away—this is a small block Chevy V8 after all.

Underneath, it’s not shiny and perfect but it is clean and solid with no signs of rot or neglect. The hardware is familiar, including the 4-speed automatic transmission that makes this a great point-and-shoot machine around town but a relaxed cruiser on the highway. This car also features what we believe to be towering 2.73 gears, so fuel economy is decent for a performance car with a V8. You’ll note that the exhaust system features a Flowmaster muffler and polished tips, but that’s the lone modification to the entire car. Handling is crisp, which was a Camaro hallmark, and it sits on factory 16-inch alloy wheels with 235/55/16 Goodyear radials all around.

Documentation includes the original owner’s manual.

If you look around, you’ll see that ‘80s and ‘90s performance cars are suddenly red hot. There’s a lot of nostalgia around these cars and today, nice ones are tough to find simply because they were often used up and thrown away. This clean Camaro ragtop is ready to enjoy as it sits and you just might find that performance cars of the period were a lot of fun to own. Call today!
