There’s a steel cowl induction hood with locking pins, proper SS stripes and badges, and a great stance that looks suitably muscular.

Great-looking SS tribute with cool color-shift Chameleon paint. Strong-running small block with upgrades, automatic transmission, working factory A/C. Very clean and straight, runs and drives great, ready to cruise this summer!

Everyone has their favorite Chevelle, which remains one of the most popular muscle cars of the era. We’re partial to the single-headlight models like this ’72, which has a clean look that properly emulates the SS models that everyone loves. There’s a steel cowl induction hood with locking pins, proper SS stripes and badges, and a great stance that looks suitably muscular. The paint is a PPG finish called Chameleon, which changes from blue to purple to green depending on the light, although it’s not as dramatic as, say, the Mystic Mustangs from the ‘90s. It’s a subtle thing that makes people do a double-take and we like the look a lot. There’s good bodywork underneath, too, with straight quarters and good panel alignment that suggests good money was spent getting it right. You’ll also note that all the lights are LEDs, including a set of rings inside the headlights for a cool nighttime look and the chrome is in good shape without any major demerits.

The black interior is a no-nonsense place to get some serious driving done. The seat covers and door panels are surely replacements, given their excellent condition, and the dash pad doesn’t have any cracking or other signs of age—nice! The standard Chevelle dash includes just speed and fuel level, but there’s a Sunpro tach under the dash. You’ll also note an AM/FM/cassette stereo from a late-model neatly fitted into the dash, which is a nice upgrade over the original AM radio, and the factory A/C is operational so this is a nice cruiser. Slick aftermarket pedals, a set of matching black carpeted floor mats, and big speakers in the rear package shelf round out the list of upgrades that make this a cool Saturday night cruiser. The only real demerits are a few finger-sized holes in the original headliner. There’s also a nicely finished trunk with correct spatter paint, a fitted mat, and no signs of distress underneath.

The engine is a strong-running 350 cubic inch V8 that should be familiar to just about everyone. It wears the usual upgrades like an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor, aluminum intake manifold, HEI distributor, and a set of long-tube headers, plus a gear drive for the cam so it sounds wicked. It starts easily, idles nicely, and pulls hard at any speed—who needs a big block when this one works so well? It’s nicely dressed in Chevy Orange engine enamel with chrome dress-up and all the factory A/C gear is still intact (we believe it’s still using R12 refrigerant). There’s a big aluminum radiator up front to keep it cool and power steering and brakes are part of the package so it’s easy to handle. You’ll note the paint job was incredibly thorough, extending to the inner fenders and firewall, so it has a slightly custom look under the hood. This is the right powerplant for having some fun.

The engine spins a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission with a shift kit inside, so it snaps through the gears with authority. Out back, a 10-bolt rear end carries what we believe are 3.08 gears, so it’s a comfortable cruiser on the highway that never feels high strung. The floors are obviously in excellent condition with no signs of patching and there’s a new Flowmaster dual exhaust system that sounds spectacular. You’ll also find new shocks and springs, plus some fresh components in the front end. The tubes along the rockers and behind the gas tank are neon, which gives it a cool effect at night and works well with the Chameleon paint job. Rally wheels were painted to match the bodywork, then fitted with staggered 225/70/15 front and 275/60/15 rear performance radials.

Cars like this are the backbone of the hobby. Easy to purchase, bulletproof reliable, and a ton of fun to drive. With the trick paint and stout engine, this one delivers on the authentic Chevelle experience for a lot less than a real SS. All the important stuff is right so you can get in and start having fun right away or add to it and make it your own. Either way, this car nails the muscle car look. Call today!
