This car is virtually as-new inside and out thanks to an incredibly fastidious owner who kept it in top condition from day one.

10,848 original miles. Never in rain, never mind snow. Expertly upgraded with Kenne-Bell “Mammoth” supercharger, Griggs Racing torque arm suspension, Steeda 20-inch wheels, and more. 700+ horsepower yet drives like a stocker. Spectacular!

Look carefully at the photos before you go any farther. This car is virtually as-new inside and out thanks to an incredibly fastidious owner who kept it in top condition from day one. It has never been wet, and that shows underneath where it’s probably better than new. Grabber Orange is one of the rarer colors for a GT500, particularly with the white stripes, and we just love it—in person it practically glows like it’s radioactive. Paint and bodywork are 100% original without any notable damage or marks beyond some light scuffing of the chin spoiler, but that’s inevitable. Paint is superb, doors close properly, and the fiberglass hood hasn’t been damaged by someone slamming it too hard. Seriously, this is a brand new 15-year-old GT500. Stylistically, the only modifications are the scoops on the rear quarters and on the quarter windows, which emulate the original GT350 of 1965. From any angle, this thing is just gorgeous.

The interior is completely stock and as with the bodywork, it is unmarked—heck, the factory plastic is still on the floor! All GT500s came loaded with goodies, including A/C, power windows, locks, seats, and mirrors, cruise control, rear defrost, and that awesome leather-wrapped steering wheel. Carroll Shelby’s signature is all over the place and it wears its individualized serial number plate in the center of the dash. It also includes the optional Shaker 1000 audio system with a thumping subwoofer in the trunk, although once you hear that 700 horsepower V8, you may not care about what’s on the radio. There might be some light wrinkles on the driver’s seat from 10,000 miles of fun, but otherwise it’s like new and I don’t think anyone has ever been in the back seat. And, of course, the trunk is like new and comes complete with its original tire inflator package (there was no spare in the GT500).

The engine is the original 5.4 liter DOHC V8, which the factory rated at a nice, round 500 horsepower. This one, however, carries a fresh Kenne-Bell “Mammoth” supercharger which crams roughly twice as much air into the stout V8, and combined with some other equipment like the cold air induction system, a custom ECM tune, long-tube headers, and some fuel system upgrades, it grunts out an estimated 700 horsepower. That’s Super Snake territory. The remarkable thing is that it feels completely stock. Turn the key and it starts instantly, idles properly, and drives like a rental car. But put your foot into it and you’d better make sure you’re already aimed where you want to go, because things start to happen VERY quickly. Rip through the gears of the factory 6-speed as quickly because the engine revs faster than you can think even with the stock 3.31 gears in the rear end.

Speaking of the rear end, this car hooks up HARD thanks to a full Griggs Racing torque arm suspension. The Griggs setup includes custom sway bars, the torque arm for the rear axle that has been color-matched to the bodywork, trick lower control arms, and a brilliant Watts linkage to keep it centered under the car. The result is a compliant ride that plants the tires hard and corners like a Corvette. You’ve never driven a GT500 quite like this. A custom stainless exhaust system features an X-pipe and polished mufflers, and there are no cats so make sure you can drive it in your home state. The floors are unmarked, the hardware is like new, and even the bare metal parts barely have any surface scale to show the passage of time in the open air. 20-inch Steeda Spyder wheels replace the factory 18-inchers and carry 265/35/20 front and 305/35/20 rear Nitto performance radials with only a few hundred miles on them.

Documentation includes the original manuals and books.

We’ve sold quite a few late-model GT500s and this is by far our favorite. Just the color alone would make it special, but the way it moves makes it a winner. Best of all, your mother could drive it every day without knowing there’s a beast living within. That’s the ultimate luxury. Check out the condition, the hardware, and the price, and you’ll agree that this Shelby gets everything right. Call today!
