Finished in brilliant Caracas Red, this 30-year-old looks a fraction of its age thanks to meticulous care over the years and with just under 25,000 original miles, it has obviously been treated as something special all its life.

24,958 original miles. Clean CarFax. Everything works. Twin turbo 3.0-liter DOHC V6, 6-speed manual transmission, all-wheel-drive, and much more! Retractable hardtop. The pinnacle of the ‘90s Japanese supercars, beautifully preserved and ready to have fun!

If you remember the ‘90s, then you probably look back fondly at the awesome performance that Japanese manufacturers were dropping in our showrooms. From the Toyota Supra to the Nissan 300ZX to this awesome 1995 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 Spyder, these cars were packed with state-of-the-art technology and enough performance to make the European supercars look warily over their shoulders. Nobody packed more tech into their cars than Mitsubishi and the 3000GT VR-4 had virtually every feature you could imagine, all wrapped in handsome grand touring sheetmetal that still look very appealing today. Finished in brilliant Caracas Red, this 30-year-old looks a fraction of its age thanks to meticulous care over the years and with just under 25,000 original miles, it has obviously been treated as something special all its life. It sports the later production fixed headlights, which were ostensibly designed to emulate samurai armor, and the proportions, even with the folding hardtop, are excellent. It’s still a great-looking car. There are no notable scratches or dings, the rockers have not been beaten by gravel, and it’s 100% factory paint so it has never been wrecked or patched. If you want a good one, this is an excellent choice.

The charcoal leather interior was likewise packed with every feature available in the mid 1990s, including power windows, seats, locks, and mirrors, a digital climate control system, and a powerful AM/FM/cassette stereo system with a graphic equalizer and a CD changer in the trunk (yes, it was the ‘90s). The main gauges are ahead of the driver, with auxiliary dials high in the center stack where they’re easy to spot at a glance. The leather seats are deeply supportive and comfortable and the seating surfaces are in excellent condition with only minor wrinkles to show their age. The back seats, well, they’re probably for little kids or packages, but they look completely unused. Gray carpets are excellent, protected by a set of fitted floor mats, and with the top up, it seals up like a coupe. That top is a rather remarkable piece of engineering, stowing itself in the trunk in about 20 seconds and giving the 3000GT a sleek, top-down profile. With the top up, the trunk is actually pretty spacious and includes the original spare and jack assembly underneath.

For power, the 3000GT used a DOHC 3.0-liter V6 boosted by twin turbos, whose full output generated 320 horsepower and 314 lb-ft. of torque—enough to keep everyone else on their toes. In practice, it’s more of a grand touring car but there’s minimal turbo lag and when the boost does show up, you’ll be grateful for the grip of the standard all-wheel-drive system. The 6-speed manual snaps through the gates surprisingly well given that the transmission is up front, and the suspension is capable yet compliant. Of course, massive 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS were included as part of the deal, so there’s enough stop to match the car’s considerable GO. The turbos make an awesome wooshing sound as they come online and because this car is 100% stock and unmodified, reliability is unaffected. The undercarriage is extremely clean, again evidence of a car that has never seen inclement weather, and it sits on factory chrome alloy wheels with fat 245/45/17 Michelin radials all around.

Extras include some factory literature and a series of awards from the Colorado Concours d’Elegance where this car is a multiple first place winner.

Beautifully preserved and a blast to drive, this VR-4 Spyder delivers a state-of-the-art driving experience that still feels quite contemporary today. These cars are admired and respected on the street and are seeing strong gains in the collector market, so this represents a great opportunity to add a great one to your collection. Call today!
