It really is as nice as it looks in photos—maybe even better.

Documented real SS, matching-numbers 350, date code correct 4-speed manual, awesome original color combination, high-quality restoration with $25,000 just spent on engine and transmission rebuilds, suspension, and brakes. An extremely high-quality Camaro!

This is the Camaro you want to buy—someone has spent a huge pile of cash getting it into top mechanical shape. It was already a restored car, and the factory Garnet Red over red vinyl is a rather rare combination in Camaro terms, although it looks awesome. Laser-straight bodywork shows extremely well with excellent gaps and a finish that makes this car stand out even in our crowded showroom. Obviously, there were pros working on this car’s bodywork and it fits together better than many of the F-bodies we’ve seen in the past. Doors close with a solid sound, not a rattle, and both the hood and trunk latch with little more than light pressure. Black hockey stick stripes along the flanks were standard on the SS, along with the ultra-cool chrome hood inserts, which we like a lot more than a garden-variety cowl induction unit. Out back there’s a ducktail spoiler to give it the right look and it appears that most of the chrome, including emblems, has been restored or replaced with quality reproductions. The vinyl top, often a cause for consternation, shows beautifully with no evidence of previous issues underneath. It really is as nice as it looks in photos—maybe even better.

The red interior is how this car was ordered and as we mentioned, the red-on-red combination is uncommon. Almost everything inside the car is new, including seat covers, carpets, and door panels, and they largely kept it stock, although a Stewart Warner tach was added and it looks right at home. You’ll find the center console on the original window sticker that’s included with the car and there’s a new clock and wiring harness in the trunk should you wish to install it in the center of the instrument panel. The factory AM radio remains in the center of the dash, but I doubt you’ll be inclined to use it after you hear the way this car runs. A heavy-duty 3-speed manual was standard equipment, but it was recently upgraded to a period correct Muncie M20 4-speed with a Hurst cue ball shifter, and I’m guessing nobody will complain about the upgrade. The trunk is outfitted with a correct mat, matching spare tire, and a complete jack assembly.

Check the photos to see why we believe this is the car’s original, numbers-matching 350 cubic inch V8. It shows a correct HA code and a matching partial VIN on the oil filter boss. It was rebuilt less than 1000 miles ago and includes a Callies crank, aluminum heads (painted to match the block—very stealthy!), a roller valvetrain, and a 4-barrel carburetor. It’s probably a bit stronger than the original 300 horsepower but it isn’t at all fussy and once it comes off the choke, it’s seriously punchy. The only deviation from stock are the finned aluminum valve covers, but that’s by necessity to clear the roller rockers. Power steering and power front disc brakes are part of the deal and have been since the car was new, so this F-body is very easy to manage on the street.

Underneath, the suspension is new, the exhaust is new, the brakes are new, and, well, you get the idea. The aforementioned 4-speed is rebuilt and feeds a rugged 12-bolt rear end with what we believe are 3.55 gears inside. The front suspension features 2-inch drop spindles and cross-drilled brake rotors and you can see all the new parts in the photos. The floors are extremely clean with no evidence that they have been patched or replaced and man, that Magnaflow stainless exhaust sounds spectacular! In back there’s a fresh set of QA1 adjustable shocks and springs that give the car a menacing rake (it’s not as substantial as the photos make it appear). 14-inch Rally wheels carry reproduction F70-14 Firestone Wide Oval tires.

Documentation is EXTENSIVE, including the original window sticker (plus a reproduction), Protect-O-Plate, manuals, a stack of receipts an inch thick, and photos of the recent work, including the engine rebuild. A set of Z/28 valve covers, clock with harness, and radio antenna also come with the car.

This is a seriously nice car in every way that matters and it has an awesome pedigree. If you’ve been looking for the ideal Camaro to enjoy this summer, you won’t find many better than this. Call today!
