Right now, the C5 Corvette might just be the biggest bang for the buck in the automotive universe. Fast, comfortable, efficient, reliable, and still great to look at, it’s everything that’s awesome about the Corvette, all at a bargain price. Dress it in black and you get a car that looks as mean as it is. With just over 63,000 original miles, this Corvette coupe delivers the kind of high performance fun that should cost a lot more than a 4-year-old Hyundai. Finish quality on the cars coming out of Bowling Green is better than average, and even after nearly 25 years (has it been that long?) this one still looks great. A big part of that is the fact that most Corvettes—this one included—are fair-weather toys that never have to fight through the weather or the daily grind. And, of course, Corvette fans are dedicated to keeping their cars in top condition, so this Corvette has received more than its fair share of wax jobs. Looking closely, you’ll spot custom front and rear spoilers, which give it a bit of a long, low look, but otherwise it’s 100% familiar, and that’s a good thing.

The C5 was a big deal because of the interior. For one, the tall side sills of the C4 were gone, making this the most user-friendly Corvette ever built. Easy to climb aboard and comfortable once you’re in there, it was revolutionary when it hit the streets. Today, those optional sport seats are still all-day comfortable and wear reasonably nice leather covers that still look great thanks to proper care over the years. Everything works, of course, and with a few bright splashes of color like the decal on the steering wheel and the embroidered armrest and floor mats, it remains a great place to spend some time. Gauges are big and bright and do a little dance every time you key it up and the knob on the center console manages the adjustable F45 suspension. The solid roof is removable and stows easily in the trunk, which is big enough for the Corvette to be used as a real-world vehicle. You want a Corvette that’s easy to live with, this is it.

Power comes from the first of the LS-motors, the LS1. With 345 horsepower on tap, it was no slouch in the performance department, and the last 25 years have proven that it’s virtually indestructible. Paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission, it’s civilized, but when you plant your right foot, things do happen in a big hurry. This one is almost entirely stock save for the giant dual snorkel air cleaner up front, which means reliability is unaffected and it obviously hasn’t been raced or abused. It’s ultra-clean under the hood, too, with plenty of signs that this car has always been loved. Heck, even the original decals are still in place!

Underneath, it is equally tidy with its innovative balsawood floors and hydro-formed frame rails, as well as the aluminum cradles for the engine and rear-mounted transmission. Transverse leaf springs were still standard equipment, but with the F45 suspension, this Corvette has three distinct personalities on the road—one of the rare adjustable suspensions that actually feels different in each setting. The exhaust is stock so it’s mellow and easy on the ears at speed, with just enough of a bark to sound like a Corvette. A few dress-up parts add some flash out back, which is the view most people get, and the stance is just about perfect. Add in those flashy chrome Z06 wheels and staggered 245/45/17 front and 275/40/18 rear Michelin radials, and you get a great-looking Corvette that’s ready to rock.

Extras include a full set of original manuals.

Big fun, little price, that’s the C5 Corvette. This one has been loved and maintained, so it’s ready for a new owner to find out why the Corvette world is so awesome. Easy to live with and still entertaining as hell to drive, this is the one to own if you just want to have some fun without a big commitment. Don’t think too hard, just get in and go. Call today!
