The sheetmetal underneath hails from out west, so rust was a non-issue and it was so clean that the cab and bed didn’t even need to come off the frame.

Spectacular F250 Lariat 4x4. Extensive restoration, including paint, interior, engine, and more. New wheels and tires. Fresh 460 with warranty. Rebuilt A/C system. New tonneau cover. Is this the best 1978 Ford F250 4x4 there is?

There’s a huge amount of money invested in this truck—far more than the asking price. Just looking at it, you know it’s special and it stands tall (literally and figuratively) in our showroom among some pretty significant machinery. Is it expensive? Sure. But look carefully at the quality of the truck and realize that making one this good would cost a lot more. Starting with a super clean western truck, they repainted it in its original Cinnamon Glow with Cream color combination for the perfect 1970s vibe. The sheetmetal underneath hails from out west, so rust was a non-issue and it was so clean that the cab and bed didn’t even need to come off the frame. There’s also a bunch of new chrome and stainless trim that combines with nice original stuff to really make the truck sparkle. There are also some fresh lenses to make it look crisp and factory emblems showing off that this is a top-of-the-line Lariat, not some beater work truck. You can also see that the bed doesn’t look like it ever had to work for a living, and it’s protected with a fresh roll-back tonneau cover that makes the truck even more practical. This big F250 can haul just about anything!

The beautiful tri-tone vinyl interior was likewise fully restored with fresh seat covers and carpets that make it look and feel fresh inside. The bench seat is firm and all-day comfortable and correct copper-colored carpets on the floor take the Lariat up a few notches over the base models with their rubber floors. The door panels appear original, but look at their condition—no need to replace those! The dash has an awful lot of faux burled walnut that makes it look more LTD than pickup truck, and the options list is considerable, including a tilt steering column, complete gauges, a sliding rear window, dual tanks, and a freshly rebuilt A/C system that blows cold. The gauges are all operational, as is the original AM/FM stereo radio, which was cutting-edge for 1978, especially in a truck. The shifter for the 2-speed transfer case is on the floor and with the manual locking front hubs the system is incredibly durable and reliable. All the interior lighting has been replaced with LEDs for improved visibility, and it includes a set of carpeted floor mats that help keep things tidy.

The original 460 cubic inch has been recently replaced with a rebuilt unit that comes with a transferable warranty—some nice peace of mind for the new owner. It’s fairly stock, so that means an easy-going hydraulic camshaft inside and pump-gas-friendly compression, but with a 4-barrel carburetor on top it’s still plenty muscular. It’s fully detailed with correct Ford Blue engine enamel, a factory aluminum air cleaner assembly, and a set of flashy chrome valve covers to make it look great. Almost everything under the hood is brand new and you’ll note that even the original jack is still in its perch on the left front inner fender. Power steering and brakes are probably mandatory on something this size, and those systems have also been serviced, along with a new radiator up front. The C6 3-speed automatic transmission feeds the transfer case, which powers front and rear solid axles for the ultimate in off-road reliability. You can see just how clean this truck really is with just a glance underneath—floors, cab corners, and rockers are so clean that they didn’t need anything more than a good clean up and a coating of protective oil film. There’s also a new driveshaft with fresh U-joints, a new exhaust system, and fresh fluids throughout so it’s ready to go. That awesome stance comes courtesy of bright polished aluminum wheels and massive 9.00-16 Superlug off-road radials that give the truck exactly the right look.

Documentation includes the original owner’s manual and a Deluxe Marti Report.

‘70s Ford pickups are red hot right now, and none are more popular than the big 4x4s. This is perhaps the ultimate expression of ‘70s truck culture with a bit of practicality mixed in. It has been extensively freshened and serviced so it’s ready to enjoy, and we just can’t imagine that there are many F250s nicer than this. Call today!
