The Dark Emerald Metallic paint appears to be original, and it’s in fantastic condition for being nearly 50 years old.

Unusual LTD II with fantastic original interior. Recently rebuilt 351W V8 with numerous upgrades. Long list of options including factory A/C and rare tachometer. Nicely documented. A full-sized luxury cruiser that packs a bit of a muscle car punch.

You know how you’re looking at cars on the internet and are scared that they’re not as good as they look? Well this is one car that’s actually better than it seems. Yes, there’s some surface scale on the heavy metal parts underneath and a small paint issue on the driver’s rocker panel, but none of that is critical or structural, and it disguises what is otherwise a really nice car. The LTD II was slightly downsized but the big car luxury was still there, although it wasn’t exactly sporty. However, a few well-chosen modifications make this one feel much lighter on its feet than its siblings and it has a definite muscle car vibe today. The Dark Emerald Metallic paint appears to be original, and it’s in fantastic condition for being nearly 50 years old. Aside from the aforementioned blemish on the rocker, there’s no sign of rust, bubbling, or other issues, and original paint means no botched work hiding underneath. This is a shockingly straight car. The padded roof is likewise original and in fantastic shape, and again, there are no bubbles or signs of trouble peeking out from underneath, although there is a small patch above the windshield that was done sometime in the past. The chrome and stainless trim is in excellent shape, there’s no pitting on the tail panel, and all the factory emblems look pretty darned good. Like I said, when you look closely, this car gets better, not worse.

The green cloth interior is also all original, showing you that this car has undoubtedly led an easy life. Wide bench seats, a column-shifted automatic, and a long list of comfort and convenience features shows the LTD’s luxury side, and it’s a nice place to spend some time. The wide woodgrained instrument panel features five round housings that hold the factory gauges, including a rather rare tachometer, and the secondary controls are underneath. You’ll note that this car is equipped with working factory A/C and remote mirrors, plus an upgrade Jensen AM/FM/cassette stereo (the original AM radio is included with the car). The upholstery is virtually unmarked, the carpets are in great shape, and even the headliner still fits tightly to the roof with no sags or split seams. And the great thing about a full-sized car is the full-sized back seat, which is big enough for grown adults, making this a cruiser that can handle the whole family. There’s also a huge trunk that’s correctly outfitted with its original mat as well as a matching full-sized spare tire assembly and jack.

The engine is a freshly rebuilt 351 cubic inch “Windsor” V8. The list of upgrades is extensive, and we’d wager that the engine is worth a better part of the car’s asking price. Up top there’s a Holley 600 CFM carburetor on an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, all feeding a set of Trick Flow Twisted Wedge aluminum heads—nice, right? Inside there’s a Lunati camshaft, Ford Motorsport roller rockers, Trick Flow pushrods, and a Cloyes double roller timing chain. A set of Hedman long-tube headers feeds a custom exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers, so this luxury coupe sounds more muscular than you’d expect. It starts easily, idles nicely, and definitely pulls with enthusiasm in any gear—there’s probably double the factory rated horsepower on tap today. The FMX 3-speed automatic transmission shifts cleanly and spins a set of 2.47 gears in the 9-inch rear end, making this a peerless high-speed cruiser. Power steering and power front disc brakes are welcome in something this big, and the list of new equipment includes the brake rotors, pads, distributor, fuel pump, master cylinder, starter, fuel tank, and radiator, so it’s ready to enjoy this summer. Those Magnum 500 wheels are the perfect finishing touch, with these wearing fat 215/70/14 BFGoodrich T/A radials that give it a bit of an attitude.

Extras include a full set of factory shop manuals, maintenance receipts, the original radio, some spare trim pieces, and some heavy-duty floor mats.

Don’t get bogged down with the bad stuff, look at how clean this car really is, how much money has been spent on the hardware (you think someone would do that on an inferior car?), and how great it looks going down the road. It’s tight, quiet, and solid feeling, something that can’t always be said of cars from this era, and it has obviously been loved. It also carries a bargain basement price, making one of the biggest bangs for the buck in our showroom today. Call now!
