Beautiful older restoration in correct colors. Great-running 283 cubic inch V8 with 4-speed manual transmission. Heavily documented restoration with photos and receipts. WWW radial tires. Few cars can match a first-generation Corvette for being fun to drive!

This rather handsome 1960 Chevrolet Corvette was a labor of love for a dedicated hobbyist, and he spent years getting it into its current condition. And once he finished it, he used it as intended—on the road! That means it’s sorted, great to drive, and a ton of fun no matter what you’re doing with it. Roman Red was second only to Ermine White in popularity, and we can see why. This car is gorgeous! The traditional white side cove helps with the look and as a product of the time, it has a ton of chrome, all of which was restored with the rest of the car. The fiberglass bodywork is in excellent condition with no cracking or delamination, even in the high-stress areas around the hood, which suggests good workmanship and excellent care since it was completed. The doors close with a solid THUNK and all the panels line up quite well, so the time and effort was properly invested. The curvaceous quarters are perhaps the car’s best feature and for many, represent the pinnacle of C1 Corvette styling—us included! This sucker is just beautiful. There’s a deep gloss to the paint and all the factory emblems are in place and in great shape. Everyone can agree that this is a great-looking car.

The interior was also restored to factory specs. That means new pleated seat covers, correct black and red speckled carpets (with matching mats), and those wonderfully ornate door panels that are crisply rendered. The big three-spoke steering wheel is in your chest, so you steer as much with your shoulders as with your arms, but that’s how it was in 1960. The 4-speed shifter snaps through the gates with precision, and it’s always cool to watch the mechanical tach bounce around as you run through the gears. All the gauges are operational except the clock, and the radio powers up but doesn’t make any sound, although we’d argue that if you’re worried about listening to the radio in a car like this, you’re doing it wrong! The dash-mounted mirror and passenger grab handle are cool design features, and the restorer thoughtfully added seat belts and a fire extinguisher in the passenger’s footwell, which is always a good idea. There’s a crisp white convertible top that fits well and snugs down easily, and the surprisingly large trunk is properly finished with a rubber mat. A full-sized spare lives in the compartment underneath.

Chevrolet wasn’t doing “matching numbers” in the traditional sense in 1960, so there’s no way to know if it’s original to the car, but it is a correct 1960 3756519 casting. It’s a 283 cubic inch V8 rebuilt to stock specs, which means a single 4-barrel carburetor on top so it’s easy to maintain and tune. Traditional Chevy Orange with finned valve covers and a louvered air cleaner make it look appropriate under the hood, and they didn’t take any liberties with the build—stock ram’s horn exhaust manifolds, a proper generator with tach drive, and all the ignition shielding are still in place. It starts easily, idles nicely, and definitely pulls the lightweight Corvette around with authority. It’s just joyous to run it through the gears and listen to the bark of the exhaust, which is only a few feet behind your ears. It’s flexible and bouncy, with great torque and a willingness to rev, all things that you’d want in a sports car powerplant. The 4-speed is an equally enthusiastic partner, with well-chosen ratios that keep the small small block spinning in the right range, and with 3.70 gears out back, it’s always ready to go. The suspension is stock, so it’s primitive, but the ride/handling compromise is great, making this a surprisingly comfortable cruiser and a deftly capable corner carver. Brakes and steering are manual, so it does take a little muscle, but at speed everything lightens up and it’s just wonderful to drive. The fiberglass on the underside is natural and in excellent shape, the frame shows no issues, and all the little details are correct, from the hardware to the fabric check straps on the rear axle. 15-inch steel wheels wear correct spinner hubcaps and a set of 205/75/15 wide whitewall radials that look great and really improve the ride and handling.

Documentation is extensive. This car includes several restoration manuals, factory service books, specification guides, maintenance manuals, and a huge folder full of receipts. There’s also a detailed album full of restoration photos showing the entire process from start to finish.

This car checks all the right boxes. Great colors, beautiful restoration, great to drive, and probably still a smart investment. You couldn’t duplicate the restoration for the asking price, even if you got the car for free, and we promise there is nothing that will put a grin on your face faster than running this Corvette through the gears. Whether you’re an experienced Corvette hobbyist or a first-time buyer, this car delivers on its awesome good looks. Call today!
