This car has just 5356 original miles and it shows.

5356 authentic miles. Shelby-installed Ford Racing supercharger, nearly 500 horsepower. Heavily documented. Fantastic color combination. Never raced or abused. Clean CarFax. A seriously fast yet surprisingly affordable Shelby Mustang with a pedigree.

If you’re looking for an iconic American performance car, but not something that you’ll see at every cruise night, perhaps this 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT/SC is the right choice. Starting with a Shelby GT, it was returned to Shelby (or in this case, their authorized installer, the legendary Tasca Ford) for the installation of a big honkin’ supercharger—hence the SC nomenclature. In 2007, the only color choices were basic black or the beautiful Performance White seen here, both with silver stripes, and I know which one I prefer. This awesome Mustang is clean and chiseled, and we especially like the sleek profile of a car without a rear spoiler. It just looks purposeful. This car has just 5356 original miles and it shows. There’s hardly a mark on the bodywork, that’s 100% original paint, and it still smells new inside. It has been fastidiously maintained and never driven in inclement weather (I think coming off the trailer and driving through our snowy parking lot is the worst it has ever seen), so it remains in spectacular condition throughout. The SC package also added special rocker panel stripes that add the all-important SC nomenclature, so while it’s a little subtle, nobody will mistake this for a garden-variety Mustang.

The charcoal leather interior is equally well-preserved. All Shelbys came loaded with options and the SC added some cool stuff. You’ll quickly note the added gauges, three above the center stack and two on the A-pillar, so you have a complete view of what’s going on under the hood. There’s also a Hurst shift linkage with cue ball knob for the 5-speed manual gearbox, as well as the requisite Shelby authenticity plaque between the center vents. There are also special Shelby sill plates. The rest is standard Mustang stuff, which is a good thing. The gauges are retro-looking dials that owe a lot to the 1968 Mustang, the big three-spoke steering wheel is leather-wrapped, and the leather bucket seats are comfortable yet supportive enough for sporting driving. Everything works, of course, and the back seat has probably never been used. There’s also a good-sized trunk that is completely unmarked.

For performance, the SC builds on the already potent Shelby GT package. The moment you open the hood, you’ll spot the polished Ford Racing supercharger, which puffs up the 4.6 liter V8 to about 500 horsepower—enough to hammer into the low 12s if you’re good enough. It looks OEM because it was engineered by the same guys who built the car, and the seamless driving manners are proof enough that they did their homework. It starts easily, idles properly, and generally acts like a modern car should act. But hammer the loud pedal and the rear wheels do all they can to grab the pavement as the GT/SC lunges forward at virtually any speed and in any gear. This is a seriously fast car. And yes, you’ll note the correct Shelby badges in the engine bay that further bolster the car’s impeccable pedigree—it is the real deal. The 5-speed snaps through the gears thanks to that Hurst shifter, and with 3.55 gears on a limited slip, it’s a comfortable car in the real world. Shelby augmented the suspension with custom springs, shocks, and sway bars, and it exhales through a spectacular-sounding stainless exhaust system. You can still see all the factory markings and decals on the undercarriage, the floors are unmarked, and aside from surface scale on the bare metal components, it’s pretty much in as-built condition. Polished 5-spoke wheels look similar to vintage Torque Thrusts and it sits on fat 235/50/18 BFGoodrich performance radials.

Documentation is extensive. The car includes all the original Ford Mustang owner’s manuals and pamphlets, plus the Ford window sticker. It also comes with a large binder of information that includes the special Shelby GT window sticker and Tasca Ford invoices. And, as a real Shelby, it is included in the Shelby American Registry and comes with two Vehicle Authenticity Certificates.

This car literally does everything well. It’s docile enough for your mother to drive to church on Sundays, while you rip 12-second passes at the drag strip. It’s rarer than a GT500 yet almost as fast for a lot less cash, and it comes with the all-important Shelby documentation. If there’s a car that we’d bet on for future appreciation, this might be it.
