With just 39,747 original miles, it’s a great survivor in mostly original condition.

39,747 original miles. L48 350 cubic inch V8 with 4-speed manual. Numbers on engine and transmission match VIN. Original paint and interior. Everything works. A nice entry-level Corvette with a good pedigree and a 4-speed!

Corvettes have always been a source of fun, and if you’ve been looking for a way to get into the Corvette hobby that isn’t a late-model used car, perhaps this 1977 Corvette coupe is a good choice. With just 39,747 original miles, it’s a great survivor in mostly original condition. It has been nicely maintained and has an appealing vintage look with a soft shine on the factory-applied code 26 Corvette Light Blue paint. The mid-70s Corvette curves are etched in all our minds as the definitive C3 Corvette, and this one holds up nicely under scrutiny. It’s possible that it’s had some touch-ups here and there, but from what we can tell, it looks fairly untouched. Original paint also means no accident damage or cover-ups, which is a nice side benefit. Everything fits well, the headlights snap open and closed, and there’s no significant cracking or chipping in the usual areas. Even the urethane bumpers are in great shape.

The code 19C black cloth interior is also factory-correct and original, and the cloth is a nice change from the usual hot, sticky vinyl, especially in a car with T-tops. There’s some slight wear in the usual spots like the driver’s out seat bolster, but nothing significant and it remains a comfortable place to have some fun. Of note, this car is nicely optioned with power windows, working factory A/C, rear defroster, and a tilt/telescope steering column, and a modern Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo that sounds pretty good thanks to big speaker boxes behind the seats. The leather-wrapped wheel remains in excellent condition and the gauges are all bright and easy to read, as well as fully functional—only the clock is offline. We believe there are newer carpets and matching floor mats, simply because they’re in such excellent condition, but then again they might just be nice original equipment. The T-tops are easy to remove with supple weather seals, and it remains a lot of fun to motor along in an open-air Corvette.

The engine is the base L48 350 cubic inch V8 rated at 180 horsepower. The stamping on the block matches the car’s VIN and it has a correct CKZ suffix code indicating a 350 cubic inch V8 with 180 horsepower for a 4-speed manual transmission. The engine has never been out of the car and runs great thanks to the modest mileage. Corporate blue engine enamel isn’t quite as exciting as Chevy Orange, but it looks right and you’ll note all the little details are still intact, including the ignition shielding and air intake snorkel. Newer belts and hoses show conscientious maintenance and it does run well. It starts easily, idles nicely, and despite the modest horsepower number, pulls the lightweight Corvette around with enthusiasm—there’s a nice hit of torque at almost any speed. The 4-speed manual gearbox is also stamped to match the VIN and it snaps through the gears easily. The undercarriage is original, so it isn’t detailed and shiny, but the important areas at the A-pillar and ahead of the rear wheels are completely solid with only a light coating of surface scale. The brakes have been recently serviced with new calipers and hoses, there are recent fuel lines, and the original catalytic converter is still in place, feeding a pair of Flowmaster-style mufflers that sound awesome. Obviously the floors in Corvettes don’t rust, but these aren’t cracked or damaged, and we believe that’s the original spare tire still hanging out back. Factory Rally wheels are the right choice and carry fat 255/70/15 General white-letter radials all around.

We know this isn’t a high-dollar Corvette. But it does check a lot of boxes: matching numbers, 4-speed, and an attractive color combination. And at this price, it offers a whole lot of fun and entry into some of the best events in the car hobby, all without a huge investment. Take a closer look then give us a call!
